The light that is created on the first day is the illumination that casts the darkness out of the heavens. Each day of creation is spiritually speaking of us. We are the earth without form and void, covered in darkness when we don’t understand the mysteries of the kingdom. In this excellent message by Ray McDowell, we can see there are times God allows us to go through dark periods where we don’t see His light. The hidden nature of the Lord is revealed to us during our “eclipse”. As wheat is sifted to remove the impurities, God allows us to endure testing so our impurities will be removed. The result of those afflictions produce God’s character in us, that we may be able to convert others. “And God saw that it was good” Gen 1:4.
