In the second half of this year, Jeremiah Johnson released a timely prophetic word to the body of Christ, signalling the rise of God’s true prophets in the earth.
Johnson points out that “God only sends his most fiery and confrontational prophets into the darkest, driest and most evil periods of history”(1). Listing the likes of Elijah, Micaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and John the Baptist as figures, who relentlessly went against the grain and confronted the religious systems of their day.
Isa 58:1 “Cry aloud, do not hold back; Lift up your voice like a trumpet, And declare to My people their transgression And to the house of Jacob their sins (2)
All throughout scripture we can see that the function of the prophet was to save the people from impending judgement by bringing them back to truth. This occurs during a time when the majority of the church is in error and on the verge of being permanently cut off from the Lord.
Rev 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, “Come out of her, my people, so that you will not be a partner in her sins and receive her plagues (3)
Johnson warns that the church “needs to diligently search to find these fiery confrontational prophets”. For these prophets will “prepare you and many others for the return of the king”. These prophets will call for “repentance, prayer, fasting and revival”, where other prophetic voices will “convince you that everything is going to be ok”. (1)
Jer 6:14 “They have treated superficially the broken wound of My people, Saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ When there is no peace (3)
2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; (2)
During this time, Apostle Michael Petro emphasised in an early church father teaching that there were not many voices in the body of Christ today, who came in the manner of the prophets of old. These are those who do not teach what everyone else is teaching and who come against the false doctrines of today. Men and women who emphasise the importance to get ready for the Lord’s return, and those, who we the church, need to receive our chastisements from.
Heb 12:7 If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten?
Heb 12:8 But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. (2)
Jesus himself proclaimed that this would happen in the end time. That many false prophets would arise up and that the love of many would grow cold (Ref: Mat 24:11-12) (2). Just before the day of the Lord, He will send Elijah the prophet to turn the “hearts of the fathers to the children and the children to the fathers” (Ref: Mal 4:6). A sign that once again an Elijah company or the spirit of the prophets would be needed to bring the church into alignment, to usher in the Lord’s return.
Mat 17:11 Jesus answered and said to them, “Indeed, Elijah is coming first and will restore all things. (2)
