“Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him saying, ‘Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.’ And Jesus said to him, ‘I will come and heal him.’ The centurion answered and said, ‘Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed.’” (1)
Could it be that the centurion’s servant had an ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke and was thus paralized? Could it be that he had dysarthria (slurred, difficult to understand speech) or aphasia (the inability to speak) due to a stroke? Imagine how “dreadfully tormented” one might be; imprisoned in one’s mind with fear and anxiety associated with paralysis and the inability to communicate!
The centurion’s words of “great faith” moved Jesus to “marvel”. “Then Jesus said to the centurion, ‘Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.’ And his servant was healed that same hour.” (2)
Now, we fast forward to the end of two thousand years heading into three thousand when Jesus said,
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” (3)
In our ‘modern’ times of 9-1-1 calls, emergency responses and advanced medical technology, a similar scenario played out. It was Tuesday, March 23rd at 9:16 AM. The text was to a niece from her aunt Michelle (one of our Voice of Healing members) regarding Bobbi, Michelle’s sister. Bobbi, at home recovering from a recent hospitalization, recognized that she was having difficulty speaking and writing out a grocery list with
“weird pains in her arm”.
Apostle Michael Petro, head of The Voice of Healing, was informed and Michelle took an urgent flight to Arizona to be with her sister Bobbi. Bobbi’s symptoms worsened with slurred speech, with left arm and leg weakness. The non-contrast CT scan of her brain at the first hospital did not demonstrate an acute bleed, but the contrast CT showed a hemorrhagic bleed or stroke causing Bobbi’s acute symptoms. Bobbi was prepared to be transferred to a higher level of care at a certified Primary Stroke Center where a neurosurgery team was available. Between the transfer, Apostle Michael was updated and prayed and covenanted that there would be no damage to her brain, that surgery would not be needed, and that she would be healed. On arrival at the Stroke Center repeat studies showed the bleeding had stopped; all the stroke symptoms had reversed. She was appropriately observed and was discharged with no residual symptoms of a stroke. Our mind is our connection to Christ;
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus” who is God. (4)
The brain is the physical housing that produces the mind. Jesus wants us to have His mind. There was a centurion who believed the words Jesus spoke regarding his servant and the centurion’s servant was healed. There is Michelle who believed the words of Jesus spoken through Apostle Michael Petro, and her sister Bobbi was healed. But even greater than this physical miracle is the healing of the soul. Bobbi remains without stroke symptoms and is soaking in the teachings of Christ the “engrafted Word” (5) that saves our “spirit, soul and body”. (6) So until next time, believe the revealed WORD, Jesus. Blessings!
