Washing the Dishes

Blessings everyone!  You may be asking: “what does washing dishes have to do with health or healing?” The answer is: nothing or a whole lot depending on how one views washing dishes.

Yeshua/Jesus told stories that seemed simple but when understood spiritually, revealed an understanding of His kingdom. Recently, I noticed that after running the dishwasher, many of the plates were not quite clean or had little pieces of food stuck to them.  So, I would hand wash them. But why was this happening? Was it overloading the dishwasher? Was it the run time? Could it be the layer of old food particles, calcium deposits from the water, plaque and grime that was plugging the filter? That was my discovery.

So, I went on a two-hour tour of removing the filter (it was gross), scrubbing off calcium deposits with a wire brush, detergent, Simple Green (an all purpose cleaner), and hitting the plastic sieve (a part of the dishwasher) to dislodge the particles stuck in it. Then the parable(s) started unfolding.

“I will open My mouth in a parable” (Psa 78:2). What are you saying Father?  What did You mean when Jesus said, “Physician, heal thyself,” (Luke 4:23)? What were you asking through Jeremiah, “is there no balm in Gilead? No physician there? Why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?” (Jer 8:22).  Why are there particles of old food and stains in and on the “cups” (Mark 7:4 & 8)? Could it be that the “dishwashers” are thinking “evil in your hearts” (Matt 9:4) and are asking questions of ignorance? “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” (Matt 9:11).  Jesus says, “But go and learn what this means: ‘I DESIRE MERCY AND NOT SACRIFICE.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance,” (Matt 9:13).

‘I DESIRE MERCY AND NOT SACRIFICE.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance,” (Matt 9:13).

In Matt. 9:2, the man with the palsy was called “Son” and Jesus said, “Be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you.”  In Matt 9:22 Jesus said, “Daughter, be of good comfort; your faith has made you well.” Later on, He arrived at the ruler’s house who worshiped Jesus and the ruler asked Him to come and raise his daughter from the dead (Matt 9:18); the noisy crowd was unbelieving and ridiculed Him when He said to them, “Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping.” He did not allow them to see, because like the religious Pharisees and scribes, they were covered with food particles, grime, and calcium deposits over their eyes, over their ears, and over their hearts. The dishwashers and dishes were not being cleaned.

The dishwashers and dishes were not being cleaned.

Praise Yah that there is the “washing of the water by the WORD” (Eph 5:26) which not only cleans, it heals our “spirit, soul, and body” (1Th 5:23). What is encouraging is recognizing the symptoms, then making the diagnosis, applying the medicine of the WORD, and knowing the prognosis is full restoration and the resurrection of our souls (Matt 9:25).  We are being washed so we can get others healed. Shalom!
